WHO ARE YOU?

I’m Laura, mum to a Growing Mind, a Baby Mind and a dog. I’ve become extremely passionate (borderline obsessed) with what goes on in our Minds. Particularly our children/babies.

WHAT DO YOU DO AT BHLM?

I founded BHLM in October 2019. I run Little Minds (age 2.5 - 4 years), Mummy Minds and try my best to co-ordinate everything behind the scenes. Lorna stops it from falling apart!

WHAT DO YOU LOVE MOST ABOUT YOUR ROLE?

I love talking to the children & hearing their opinions/views on life. I love that they absorb our 4 part approach in their own ways and how unique they all are! I love when a mum is brave enough to walk through our doors, it is something i will always admire. Lastly, meeting so many like minded people. It has been a wealth of support i never knew i needed.

What is your dream for bhlm?

I want to have trained individuals/groups in every community and every school. This would allow educational staff and staff in statutory services to carry on with their roles and our support could help provide early intervention, life skills, education and information to those who need it. EVERYONE deserves and NEEDS to have someone to relate to, to validate their feelings & ask them everyday how they are. I hope to do this alongside a group of like minded individuals, who want to help change the world!

FAVOURITE MEMORY FROM CLASSES

Starting my classes with my own Little Mind by my side AND going to my first baby class (ever) with my own Baby Mind. There’s also a video from pre-COVID when we made mindful moment bottles in class. The Little Minds reactions to it was the best. I will never forget their little faces. Children are amazing.

FUN FACT ABOUT YOU:

I swam with crocodiles when i travelled/lived in Australia. I have been to Las Vegas 3 times and married my husband there.

What do you do at bhlm?

You’ll find me in awe of our babies at Baby Minds classes on a Wednesday. I pop up at Mummy Minds sessions too, and the occasional Little Minds class.

What do you love most about your role?

I LOVE watching children and babies exploring and discovering things. I have lots of fun providing opportunities for our Baby Minds to explore and learn. The messier, the better!

what is your dream for bhlm?

I would love for BHLM and Laura to get the recognition it deserves! A small family run business, built by a Mummy Mind and her own Little Mind, supporting Little Minds through a global pandemic, to come back stronger than before. Plus, a new Baby Mind! I would also love BHLM to reach everyone who needs it, regardless of circumstances. Every child deserves to be heard, be understood and to thrive.

FAVOURITE MEMORY FROM CLASSES

My favourite memories are made when i feel like i’ve made a connection - when a Baby Mind smiles at me or crawls over to see me; if a Little Mind wants to tell me about their day or gives me a hug. Getting messy with Baby Minds always makes a fun memory!

I am learning British Sign Language so i can sign our Baby Minds goodbye song. It has allowed me to share signing our emotions with our Little Minds. The way they picked it up so quickly and were able to use it just blew my mind!

I also have a classical music degree, along with my SVQ 4, HNC and many other certificates since beginning this job - a bit of a geek.
